All five clubs involved in the Henley Boat Races held their trial eights fixtures in December.
For the first time ever today, the two Trial Eights for the Oxford and Cambridge Women’s Boat Clubs took place on the Championship Course on the Thames. In a move that brings them a step closer to racing The Newton Women’s Boat Race on the Tideway in 2015, first Oxford, then Cambridge took to the water in matched eights. ‘Matched’ they certainly were, with both trials producing intense side-by-side action with thrilling finales. OUWLRC, CULRC and OULRC all held their trials eights on the course in Henley-on-Thames. The OULRC Swift beat OULRC styles, the race report can be found here. For OUWLRC the toss up between "have your cake" and "eat it too" ended with a narrow victory for the latter and CULRC are as secretive as only Cambridge Lightweight men know how about their race results.
